Abigail Díaz de León Benard

Mexican. Lawyer. She received a Masters degree in International Law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies (HEI-Institut Universitaire des hautes études internationales) at Geneva University in Switzerland (2002-2004); She has a Masters degree in Law from the Division of Postgraduate Studies in the Law Faculty at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); Law Degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes (UAA).

Her professional experience in the public sector includes the legal areas of the Economic Development Ministry of Aguascalientes and the office of international relations at the Representation of Aguascalientes´ Government in Mexico City (1999-2002). In 2008, she served as a Chief of the Unit of International Affairs and International Organizations at the State’s Employees´ Social Security and Social Services Institute. She has experience in civil and commercial litigation.

In the academic field, since 2006 she teaches undergraduate public and private international law  at the Law Faculty (UNAM); in 2006 she taught at the departments of law and international relations at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM); in 2007, the Law Department at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) invited her to be in charge of the Public Interest Litigation Clinic; in May 2010, she organized the  “First Meeting on the  Law of the Sea and Maritime Law”, at the Law Faculty(UNAM).
